Privacy Policy — Road Signs EE

Who we are
Road Signs EE is developed by Evgeny Drobyshev, operating as Base Hangar Works (“we,” “us,” “our”), an individual developer based in Estonia. This policy explains what information Road Signs EE collects, why, and what rights you have.
(This document names the individual behind Base Hangar Works because EU data protection law expects a data controller’s real identity to be clear when there’s no separate registered company. Everywhere else — the app itself, the store listing, the About screen — Base Hangar Works is used as the name.)

What information we collect
Road Signs EE is built to collect as little as possible.
We do not:
- Require or support user accounts or logins
- Use advertising networks or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs
- Collect your name, physical address, or any government ID
- Access your contacts, photos, location, camera, or microphone
Stored only on your device, never sent to us: Your favorite signs, quiz history/scores, and app preferences (theme, language) live locally on your device only. We have no access to this data and it is never transmitted anywhere.
Sent to our backend:
- To determine which sign categories are free and to show our partner-school list, the app fetches current configuration from our server. This request carries no personal identifier — just a technical request for current data.
- If you enter a partner discount code, the code is sent to our server to check whether it’s valid. We store the code used, a temporary session identifier, and a timestamp — nothing that identifies you personally.
- If you tap a partner school’s email, phone, or website link, we log an anonymous count of that action (which school, which action) so we can tell whether the partnership is being used. This is never tied to you individually and includes no device or user identifier.
Purchases: If you unlock full access, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details — Google processes that directly under its own Privacy Policy. We only learn that a purchase happened, never any financial detail.
Technical/network data: Like any networked app, our backend (hosted on Google’s Apps Script platform) will see your device’s IP address as an ordinary, unavoidable part of how any web request works. We don’t separately log, store, or use this to identify you.
Why we process this information
- To let you redeem partner discount codes and unlock full access
- To show you accurate, current category and partner information
- To understand, in aggregate only, whether our partner program is actually being used — never at an individual level
Who we share information with
- Google — for backend hosting (Google Sheets/Apps Script) and payment processing (Google Play Billing). Data passing through Google’s infrastructure is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- We do not sell, rent, or share information with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
Data retention
- Redemption-code checks and anonymous tap counts are currently kept indefinitely for partnership tracking. Since none of it identifies you, there’s no practical way for us to isolate a specific “your” entry — but you’re welcome to contact us with any concern.
- Data stored on your device (favorites, quiz history, preferences) stays until you uninstall the app or clear its data via your device settings — entirely your call.
Children’s privacy
Road Signs EE is built for people learning to drive — generally teenagers and adults — and isn’t directed at young children. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you’re in the EU/EEA, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including to:
- Access information we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability
- Lodge a complaint with your national authority — in Estonia, the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate
Given how little personal information Road Signs EE actually collects, most of these will have limited practical scope here — but reach out to basehangarworks@gmail.com with any request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. If we make a material change, the app will prompt you to review and accept the updated policy the next time you open it — we won’t change terms on you silently.
